流利的英语、生动的表达、有趣的互动……这是青岛二中分校英语口语课堂，执教老师是来自英国的优秀毕业生joy老师。
7年前，带着对中国的热爱，她来到了这片土地，也是出于对学生的爱，她想将最地道的英语带进中国的课堂。多年的英语口语教学练就了她扎实的课堂基本功，也形成了与学校一致的先进的教学理念及方法。课下她与英语老师一起研讨，研究教学大纲，了解教学进度，熟悉中国学生外语学习的困难，及时调整自己的教学内容及目标。每堂课，都充分展示了学生的外语口语水平，充分锻炼了学生外语输出的能力，让学生的语言理解能力有了很好的展示平台。学生将她称为外语教学的“补充能量”，走向世界的“彩虹桥”。
除此之外，在学生的各项个性化活动中，都能看到她的身影，社团活动中有她热心的参与、国际语言文化节上有她睿智的互动，她还与学生谈心，感受学校“导师”的职责……
青岛二中分校以“深化素质教育、优化教育资源、凸显办学特色、创建国际名校”为办学目标，为培养学生的国际交往能力、国际文化理解能力、国际视野与思维素质、国际文明素质，长期以来一直聘用外教进行口语教学，通过资料审核、面试等多种途径选拔高素质英语母语国家的教师进行执教，外教在学校的国际化教育中正在也将继续担任重要的角色，期待青岛二中分校的学子们能具备作为现代人和世界人的修养，为未来参与国际事务和竞争做好准备。

hi! my name is mrs lewis. i come from the uk and i am 34 years old. i am married with two children, and have been a teacher at the branch campus of no.2 high school for almost a year now.
i started teaching english as a foreign language (efl)in 2007, working part time for ocean university of china and jiaozhou college. in 2008 our family moved to xinjiang, where i worked as an english teacher in yili teacher’s college, yining. we lived in yining city for seven years before returning to the uk for one year. in 2016 we returned to qingdao where my husband took a job working for ocean university.
i am a firm believer in student centred teaching (sct). students need to be responsible for their own learning, and the teacher’s job is to facilitate them to achieve their academic goals. in my classes at no.2 high school, my aim is to have the students speaking for the majority of the lesson, after all i don’t need to practice my spoken english, they do! we start each lesson with a presentation of the topic to be covered that lesson, and then use various activities to practice speaking on that topic. our spoken lessons go in tandem with the student’s regular english classes, reinforcing what they have learnt and giving them a chance to ask questions on things they have not understood. i encourage group work, and each group is given a toy hammer – anyone who speaks chinese will be “punished” by their group leader!
our classes are “english only” zones, and over the course of a semester the students become more confident speaking english with their classmates. i believe that by the time students reach high school there is no reason why they should not be fluent in english, after all they have spent almost ten years learning english! most students just need to be encouraged to utilise all that information in their head, and that is the aim of the foreign teacher classes at number 2 high school.
