Geography: Rizhao is situated in the southeastern part of Shandong Province, facing the Yellow and the East China Seas. It covers an area of 5,310 square kilometers, including a coastline of 170 kilometers. The terrain of Rizhao is flat and low-lying, with hills and mountains in the west and plains and valleys in the east. The 
city has a humid subtropical climate, with an average annual temperature of 12.7℃ and an average annual rainfall of 870 millimeters.
Economy: Rizhao is well known as an emerging port city and industrial base, with a strong economy and convenient transportation. The city is the home to several large enterprises in various industries, such as chemicals, petrochemicals, iron and steel, and machinery. The national-level Rizhao Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Rizhao Port Economic Zone have played a significant role in promoting economic growth and expanding foreign trade.
Culture: Rizhao has a long history and a rich cultural heritage, dating back to the Neolithic Age. In ancient times, Rizhao was an important transportation hub and commercial center.
