The city covers an area of 14,300 square kilometres and has jurisdiction over Sichuan Tianfu New Area, Chengdu Eastern New Area, Chengdu High-tech Zone and other 20 districts (cities) and counties. It has a permanent population of 20.938 million and a service population of 22.336 million. In 2020, Chengdu’s GDP registered 1.77 trillion yuan, ranking 7th among all cities in China.
